Sports and Recreation Center

The Sports and Recreation Center at Goucher College provides an array of sports and fitness facilities. In addition to indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, the center also offers group fitness classes, personal training, and wellness resources.

The Sports and Recreation Center features an arena for volleyball, basketball, and other sports. It has a seating capacity of 1,200, making it an ideal venue for Goucher’s spring commencement ceremony. Other outdoor and indoor facilities include a 25-meter pool, racquetball courts, and a gymnasium. Some of the indoor facilities include a fitness studio, cardio and weight rooms, and a dance/aerobics studio.

A natatorium, or aquatics center, is a facility that includes a swimming pool, saunas, and other features for exercise. Other features include five squash courts, five handball/racquetball courts, and individual rooms for fencing and other activities.

There are also two open-use gyms in the Sports and Recreation Center. Gym 264 and 265 are primarily set up to accommodate volleyball and basketball, although they can be configured to accommodate other sports. During special events, the facilities can be reserved, as well.

The WP Athletics Facility is home to the Pioneers’ basketball and volleyball programs. It also serves as a hub for intramural sports. In addition to providing a quality playing surface for these sports, the facility also includes boxing equipment, a multi-purpose room, and cardio-vascular and resistance machines.

The Sports and Recreation Center has hosted numerous international wrestling events, including the International Fencing Championships. It has also hosted the Metropolitan Wrestling Championships. In the past, the facility has served as a training site for many New York University NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports teams.

The WPI Sports & Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot educational facility. In addition to its primary function as a university facility, it provides a variety of sports and fitness resources to students, faculty, and staff. As part of the SFM Network, it has a major impact on the community.

Another notable feature of the Sports and Recreation Center is its location near Carlson Stadium. This means that the facility is a popular venue for events, such as the Pride of Maryland Tournament. Nine Division III men’s basketball teams take part in the three-day tournament.
