The Fieldhouse is home to a wide array of activities. From the academic to the varsity athletics, you can get your fill of all things collegiate in this oh-so-green facility. This facility was built to serve a number of purposes, including a new athletic director’s office and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Whether you are an alumni looking for a workout or a newbie to GRCC, this facility has got you covered.
Aside from the gym, the Forest Hills Fieldhouse is a popular place for physical education classes and practice. With its proximity to the main campus and the surrounding neighborhoods, the fieldhouse is a popular meeting place for faculty and students. In fact, it is the site of a number of campus events and activities, including the upcoming GRCC Blue Devils football game, which will feature a full court press, a ceremonial kickoff, and a ceremonial kicking of the pigskin. Located on the west side of the campus, the Field House is actually quite large, measuring in at 334,000 square feet. It houses a variety of facilities including the Health and Human Physiology Department, Recreational Services, Lifetime Leisure Skills, and a number of academic departments. Although it is an academic and social institution, the facility is nonetheless open to the public at certain hours of the day. While you are there, don’t forget to check out the aquatics facilities, including the Ford Pool. These facilities are available for current MCC students, faculty, and staff. They are also free to the general public. If you don’t have a membership, don’t worry; you can always buy a one-time $5 card. You can also purchase additional Hughes Fieldhouse cards if you’re a member. As for the fieldhouse, it is best to be aware of its closure schedule, which is based on university-observed holidays. And, while you are in the neighborhood, don’t miss out on the other major attractions around the campus.
